In a small white room with a blue door tucked away in a leafy corner of Hackney, Robin makes music.
Inspired by the timeless work of Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and Ani Difranco amongst many others, he colours in his songs about love and life with acoustic guitar, banjo, ukulele, mandolin, piano, double bass, organ, percussion toys and any other instruments he can afford and fit into his little studio.
His music has been described as ‘gently experimental nu-folk’ and compared to Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits and Richard Thompson – he is a bit distressed by the misspelling of the word ‘new’ but doesn’t let it distract him from his passion for all things with strings.
Robin has released two albums ‘Only The Missile’ and ‘Strangers With Shoes’ on creative commons label ‘modifythevan’, both receiving excellent reviews in the blogsphere. He is very lucky to have recently acquired a superb backing group and is currently discovering the joys and frustrations of having his own band.
